OUTPOSTERS is a third-person zombie shooter with rogue-lite runs. You can play it solo or in online co-op with up to 4 players through Steam. Every run takes place at night in a city overrun by zombies. Your team holds one fortified outpost, and the run ends if its Brain core is destroyed.

Zombies come in waves and attack both the base and the players. The base also loses power over time, and some zombies drop repairs for it. Between waves you get 45 to 55 seconds to search the city for weapons and loot. The recall key teleports you back to the base if you take no damage during its countdown.

After each wave a new laptop terminal unlocks somewhere in the city, and the map shows where. Hold E on it to download a base upgrade, such as the Auto Turret or the Repair Drone. Then pick one of three perk cards. Perks stack within a run. Nothing carries over to the next one.

Each of the 5 operators has 4 abilities, one of them a passive and one an ultimate. NYX has the lowest health of the five and the highest damage stat. MURDAR is the tank and can make every infected within 12 m target him. Weapons are not tied to operators. Everyone picks them up from the same world loot, and guns found on the ground come loaded. The weapon wheel holds 8 weapons, and one-handed ones can be dual-wielded.

The free demo has 8 waves. Waves 1 to 7 each bring in new zombie types, 12 in total. The Armored Riot takes only a quarter of the damage from the front, so you have to flank it. The Siege Ghoul heads for the base first and turns on players only as a fallback. After wave 8 comes the boss, THE MATRIARCH. She rides a scooter around the city and fires two pistols at the players or the base. Her fire rate goes up at 66% health and again at 33%.

Capuchin Games develops and publishes OUTPOSTERS in Unity 6. It runs on Windows through Steam. The interface and text are available in 10 languages. The free demo is on Steam now, and the game is registered for Steam Next Fest in October 2026.
